Your privacy is of great importance to Volunteer UP Legal Clinic ("the Clinic"). Consequently, the Clinic will take appropriate measures to protect the personally identifiable information provided by and collected from you on the Clinic's website in connection with the functions, facilities, products and services offered on the Clinic's website.

Information the Clinic Collects About Site Visitors: The Clinic does not collect personally identifiable information from individuals unless they provide it to the Clinic voluntarily and knowingly. The Clinic only gathers personally identifiable data, such as names, addresses, zip/postal codes, email addresses, etc., when voluntarily submitted by a visitor. The information the Clinic collects is set forth immediately below:
Information that Site Visitors Give the Clinic: The Clinic may receive and store the information that you enter at the Clinic's website, provide to the Clinic on a Request for Pro Bono Legal Assistance page or a Volunteer Opportunities page, or give to the Clinic in any other way. You can always choose not to provide some or all of the information which the Clinic requests. This information is used solely by the Clinic and other entities in furtherance of the Clinic's charitable activities.

Automatic Information: Whenever you interact with the Clinic website, the Clinic automatically gathers and stores certain types of information, such as your Internet domain and IP address, the type of browser and operating system you used to access the Clinic's website, the date and time you accessed the Clinic's website, the pages you visited, and if you linked to the Clinic's website from another website, the address of that website.
Additionally, the Clinic may use "cookies" to obtain information when your web browser accesses this website. A cookie is an alphanumeric identifier, which we transfer to your computer via your Web browser and store on your computer's hard drive. Email Communications: To make the email the Clinic sends you more helpful and relevant to your interests, the Clinic receives and stores certain types of information. The Clinic may also receive confirmation when you follow a hyperlink from one of our email messages to the Clinic's website. Text Messaging: We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information. We may collect your mobile number for the purpose of sending case-specific messages related to our pro bono legal services. Your information will not be shared with third parties without your consent.

Information Sharing:
The Clinic is not in the business of giving, transferring, or selling information about the Clinic's website visitors. The Clinic considers this information to be a vital part of our relationship with you and the Clinic treats it with great care and respect. There are, however, certain circumstances in which the Clinic may share your data with certain third parties. The Clinic will share personally identifiable information with third parties when: (i) the person submitting the information authorizes the Clinic to share it; (ii) sharing the information is necessary to providing effective legal representation; (iii) sharing the information is a necessary operation of the website, for instance, to process a credit card transaction, or (iv) the Clinic is required to by law.

If you request removal of your personal information, you acknowledge that residual information may continue to reside in the Clinic's records and archives, but the Clinic will not use that information for commercial purposes.

Website Security: For website security purposes, this computer system employs software programs to monitor network traffic to identify unauthorized attempts to upload or change information, or otherwise cause damage. Except for authorized law enforcement investigations, no other attempts are made to identify individual users or their usage habits. Raw data logs are used for no other purposes. Unauthorized attempts to upload or change information on this service are strictly prohibited and may be punishable under the law.
Privacy Concerns and Disputes and Policy Revisions:
If you choose to visit the Clinic's website, your visit and any dispute over privacy is subject to this Privacy Policy and application of the law of the State of New Jersey. If you have a concern about privacy at the Clinic's website, please send an email with a detailed description of your concern to plegge@volunteeruplegalclinic.org and we will try to resolve it. Please be advised that the Clinic's activities and website change constantly. This Privacy Policy may change also. The Clinic's use of information that the Clinic receives and stores is subject to the Privacy Policy in effect at the time of the Clinic's use of such information. If the Clinic decides to change its Privacy Policy, the Clinic will post the revised Privacy Policy on its website.
